Post-Thanxgiving

Finally back to my house after spending a couple nights on my 'rents couch, I'll sleep well soon. It was a good holiday, I was glad to see everyone and I had entirely too much too eat. Wednesday I even won a SNG at PokerStars. I played really well and didn't go crazy once I got some chips, I even folded pocket kings after the flop with j 6 5 showing and two players allin in front of me and sure enough one was on a straight draw with 7 8 and the other had 5 6 and won the pot, I don't know why they were playing with cards like that but I'm I read it right and didn't throw some chips away. I haven't played since so I'm hoping to get a game in tomorrow cuz I'm not going into work. But now it's time fore bed, I just finished watching Lost, Garden State and the end of Love Actually and I'm emotioned out.

Another Day Another $3

I got in another SNG last night at PokerStars. Nothing really jumped out at me last night except that I must have been re-raised and chased out of every third pot I was in. I'm going to have to look into that. But I still won enough and hung on at the end to finish 6th and double up my money. I'm looking forward to some good food over the next couple days. And unfortunately a lot of snowy driving. Oh well, I'm sure it'll be worth it, everyone's going to be home (the 'rents' home anyway), so I'm sure we'll entertain each other. I hope everyone has a good Thanxgiving!!

Busy weekend of very little

The weekend started off on the right foot with a little happy hour drinking with the coworkers that extended into the night. Its the first time I've seen most of them let their hair down and have some fun, it's always a fun time. The rest of the weekend was dominated by football, a lot of good games. The OSU vs. Michigan game is going to be on ESPN Classics tonight at 8 or 9. The Browns got a shutout win, I hope they stay on the roll and put a couple wins together. I made a trip to Oxford for some broomball but the other team didn't show, kind of a wasted 2 1/2 hours but I'm a sucker for broomball.

On a side note, I'm still holdin' out that someone will eventually read something and decide to comment, don't let me down.

The Zen of Poker

What a shock, I decided to jump in a game at PokerStars while I was waiting for the game to start. I was feeling good and made it to the money, even got to throw down quad dueces, tripled up on that one. I was actually 18th out of 18 at one point but stuck to my game and waited for the cards and jumped to 2nd with 12 left. The final table was playing so slow that the blinds just got too big and I had to take some chances on some flops. I ended up 6th and doubled up, it felt better than that though because I stuck with the strategy and was patient. Even with the RedHawks falling apart in the weather and my roommate downstairs pounding on things like he bet his car on Miami. 3 safeties for Miami thus far, not looking good.

Tuesday Rain-out.

Well my roommates and I were headed up to Oxford to watch the RedHawks play BGSU in football but halfway there it got postponed due to weather, kinda crappy, but atleast I wasn't already in the stadium sitting in the rain. So now I get to sit at home and watch, if they even play, the weather looked pretty bad. I guess I'll just watch WSOP on ESPN until/if the game comes on. Maybe I'll throw another buck - twenty away at PokerStars.

Holidays

So is it just me or am I a lucky one when it comes to family? I actually look forward to the time I get to spend with family. My sib's and parents especially, we're spread out all over the place. But on the rare occasion that that the 6 of us(mom, dad, sister, 2 bro's and me(the oldest)) get together it really is a non-stop good time. Both parents are from large families that makes a normal get-together 30+ on both sides. Makes for crazy times and big football games at my grandparent's farm. The whole point of this rambling was to point out that thanksgiving is rapidly approaching. If anyone has happened upon my corner of the web, what are you thankful for? Too cliché? Hey, just go with it.

Dead Money

I thought I was going to take a day off from poker but tonight when I got home I really felt like I was in the correct frame of mind so I went ahead and got in a $1+.20 game at PokerStars. I was right, for a while anyway. I was extremely patient, tried to get to the flop as cheap and as often as I could. The cards didn't come right away and I was down to about 700 chips in level 2 or 3. Not quite short-stacked but my time was running out. I got into acouple flops cheap and caught some cards and by level 7 I was in first at about 9000 chips. In hind sight, I think its really the worst place for me to be in. I lose patience and become over aggressive. I ended up chasing a flush draw against the set of queens I put the guy on, like I said, impatient and aggressive... and out of the money. I could have rode those chips to the money easily, I lost sight of the goal and got into a pissing contest and got nothing but a lesson that I'll forget the next time I play. Eh...

Sunday Night Football

Needless to say, the WWdN really didn't go to well, I don't think that I should be playing poker that close to getting out of work, I don't have the patience that I need to be successful. So now it's sunday and for once here in Cincinnati, I actually get to see the Browns play and what happens? The Steelers are running all over them. It's 24 - 7 in the 3rd but Tommy Maddox had to come in so maybe he'll throw some interceptions and we can get back in it; probably not. Back to work tomorrow, at least it's the last full week before Thanksgiving.

WWdN #2

I'm sitting here playing in the WWdN for this week. In case you aren't familiar with it, the WWdN is a weekly tournament on PokerStars hosted by Wil Wheaton (of WilWheaton.Net; WWdN get it?). He's a writer/actor that writes for a couple blogs that I like to read while at work. It's just getting underway and I'm up to 2100 in chips but it's still really early, level two. I'll check in later to post how I did.

Gotta Start Somewhere

So this is where it's going to start. But I'm actually at work right now so I'll give you the bio tonight while I'm playing in the WWdN. Be patient! Well Okay, I'll give you this: My name's Adam and I'm a computer programmer in Cincinnati, OH. Later...
